About Us

Walking Each Other Home is an organization formed in August of 2022 and run by high school students. We are based in Somerset Country, New Jersey. Though we are beginning with supporting individuals in our close community as we are still a small group and expanding, we hope to expand to all those those need it wherever.

*All letters that are written are read and approved by the head of Walking Each Other Home before being delivered; we will not send out any letters that may make the reader feel any sort of uncomfort, anger, etc.*

The name of our organization is inspired by Ram Dass, or Dr. Richard Alpert, an American spiritual leader, psychologist, yoga guru, and author. Though Dass's book "Walking Each Other Home: Conversation of Loving and Dying", seems to be centered around facing death with an open mind and curiosity, we are inspired by the idea of helping each other get "home", wherever that may be in our lives. Through our letters, we are hoping to create a more connected and personal community amidst an ever growing society that seemingly revolves around internet and social media. We want to support our community, especially those that may feel a lack of it, and to bring joy and light to all who may need it.
